a distinctive approach to interiors

It always an absolute pleasure to spend time with the lovely John, Nick and the whole wonderful team at Woodhouse & Law, photographing their work and getting a closer look at what makes their interiors so distinctive.

There’s a real individuality to their approach to design. Bold colours, beautifully layered textures, unexpected combinations and carefully chosen features all come together in a way that feels confident, considered and entirely their own. Nothing feels formulaic, and that’s precisely what makes their work so interesting.

What I particularly enjoyed photographing was the depth and personality within the spaces. There’s so much to discover when you take the time to look a little closer from the interplay of colour and material, the contrast between finishes, the smaller details that bring everything together, and those lovely moments where an object, a feature or even a piece of glassware becomes part of the wider story.

For me, these are the details that make an interior come alive. It’s not simply about capturing how a space looks, but about conveying its character and the thought behind it. The layers, the textures, the colours and the way everything sits together all contribute to a feeling that’s difficult to manufacture. It comes from having a clear point of view and the confidence to see it through.

Woodhouse & Law have that in abundance. Their work has a wonderfully independent spirit, with a willingness to embrace colour, mix materials and bring together pieces that feel personal rather than predictable. There’s a sense of playfulness, but also a real understanding of balance and detail. The results are designs with character and interiors that feel collected, considered and full of life.

Photographing projects like this is a reminder of how much I enjoy working with designers who have such a strong creative identity. It gives you so much to explore through the lens, from the bigger architectural gestures to the smallest finishing touches, and it’s often those unexpected details that make an image feel special.

A huge thank you to John, Nick and the entire Woodhouse & Law team for always being so welcoming and for such an enjoyable shoots. It’s a genuine pleasure to spend time with you all and photograph work that has such a distinctive personality.

And that, for me, is always the joy of working with great designers, discovering what makes their work unmistakably theirs, and finding a way to bring that character to life through photography.
